ratboys portfolio

I am Nick Wysoczanskyj.I am the Ratboy. This is my portfolio blog.I am a pro mountain biker on Team JSA (Job Seekers Allowance), but the pay is not good (£56.20 per week), so employment, or rather the lack of it, is my only real complaint in life. It may save the little sanity I have left, it may even save me from my bike and help me to avoid any more of the ugly facial scars that come with too much free time, too much gravity and too little distance between my face and the floor!

Here are a couple of examples of my coloured work. The colouring is done in adobe photoshop using multiple layers of flat colour, lighting and my original drawings. This is Apocalypsian Emperor from the opening of my comic - Savage Henry's Money.

The Old Monk - Savage Henry's Money

Here is an example of a coloured and an uncoloured character design. Its an Apocalypsian Empiorial Guard from my final major project at university, the comic book - Savage Henry's Money. The colouring is done in adobe photoshop.

This was/ is an educational book for children about the iceage people of Europe and the strange circumstances of two distinct species of human encountering each other. The idea was to demonstrate my draughtmenship and my writting ability through strong characterisation, mainly of the Neandertal characters.

This a sample of some half size roughs that I produced for my final major project at university. It was a comic book concept that was designed to show my ability to write and script, and my understanding of genre, not just my draughtmanship. However, writting, in the context of my course, cost me much time and gained my no credit. I believe it to be the main reason that I got a 1st for my dissertation but only a 2.2 with honours. In hindsight I was on the wrong course!

As a professional biker sponcered by the Government (DWP), to injure myself in painful and inventive ways!!! Though Team DWP, (that's the Department of Work and Pensions,or more amusingly, welsh for stupid) doesn't ask too much of me, just write my name every two weeks. To some this is a challenge, it was to me! (my name is like the whole alphabet!!!) However since the age of six I can honestly say I think I have it down, and I have a pressing need to find a job to justify the four years of university and £20,000 of student debt!!!
